There have always been pastoralists in the Bahr El Gazal region in the Sahel, who have learned to deal with the environment there. But for a number of decades they have been faced with problems that have compromised their stability and even their survival in this semi-arid context. Today there is continual talk of drought and desertification, but how are these phenomena perceived by the inhabitants of the region?
