The objective of this research was to review selected food and non-food programmes in Afghanistan to identify information that would be useful and criteria to apply at the assessment stage to inform the design of interventions in emergencies. The research derives from the need to place food aid in the wider context of food security and livelihoods, with a view to adapting responses to the needs of populations affected by crises.Charlotte Dufour, François Grünewald, Hugues Maury
