This study analyses the way natural resources are managed in Eastern Chad in order to help inform the many aid actors present in the region. The expected result is that this will help them to protect the environment by using or reinforcing or creating mechanisms for managing natural resources at the community level. The presence of refugees and IDPs has a major impact on the environment due to the increased risk of environmental damage, and due to the increased need for responses that are relevant in terms of resource management. The preservation of natural resources is therefore particularly important in this context. Certain villages are already being supported by aid organisations in terms of resource management, but the majority are not.Mustapha Absakine & Blanche Renaudin
