The LRRD-REPI programme included ‘cash for work’ and unconditional cash transfers for households without assets. As the programme was designed and implemented in accordance with LRRD principles, the challenge of the cash transfers was to be able to meet the needs of the population who had been affected by both the 2010 floods and the poor 2011-2012 agricultural season, without compromising the programme’s participatory approach and the achievement of its final objectives.
