The purpose of this study is to draw on the experiences from 16 years of DIPECHO and 750 projects for vulnerable communities, to identify "what worked" and also what didn't in order to find ways of carrying out our work more effectively. The study aims to capture DIPECHO's successes and challenges, to analyse the reasons for these so we can formulate guidance to maximise the impact of the future interventions, for both the DIPECHO approach and for the opportunities provided by the disaster resilience agenda. A central study objective is to understand and articulate how DIPECHO can ensure the sustainability, replication and the scaling up of initiatives targeted at reducing risks in vulnerable communities.François Grünewald, Donna Mitzi Lagdameo, Alexandre Latour & Jacobo Ocharan
