Real-time evaluation of the response to the explosion in beirut on 4 august 2020

The evaluation was carried out by an inter-disciplinary team from Groupe URD, with support from the Lebanese think tank, North Leda. It covered the effects of thedisaster within Beirut and also aimed to identify its repercussions in areas outside the capital. This was an independent initiative which was funded with pre-existing resources, such as the research funds of the RepR network of French NGOs concerned withdisaster risk reduction. The mission was conducted in close coordination with OCHA, DG ECHO and the Joint UNEP-OCHA Environment Unit (JEU), and contributed to UNDAC’s VOSOCC from the beginning of the process. As such, it aimed to contribute to the international efforts for Lebanon.
