Optimise the collaboration between European Red Cross National Societies, the IFRC and DG ECHO

This study aims to improve the collaboration between the International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) and European Red Cross National Societies (EUNS), in their dealings with DG ECHO. The study reviewed the mechanisms in place and explores possible ways to make improvements and new strategies.

The aim was therefore to produce:

• General analysis of DG ECHO’s funding trends and the current coordination mechanisms for dealing with this donor;
• Strategic recommendations for the IFRC and the European Red Cross National Societies to increase their ability to receive funding from DG ECHO and more broadly from the European Commission.
