Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO)
In connection with the INSPIRE + Consortium, Groupe URD and its partners (Development Initiatives, IECAH, ODI, FAIREPROD ) are assisting the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) in developing policies via research, training, workshops and the dissemination of results.
Groupe URD is currently mapping climate and environment experts who could help to implement commitments 1 and 2 of the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organizations developed by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies: 1) Step up our response to growing humanitarian needs and help people adapt to the impacts of the climate and environmental crises, and 2) Maximize the environmental sustainability of our work and rapidly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
The objective of this mission is to highlight the resources and services available to help organisations implement the Charter and to analyse any obstacles that may prevent access to these resources in order to inform the Charter Secretariat and donors about the needs that exist.
A wide range of tools and resources are already available to the public. However, Groupe URD would like to conduct a consultation to identify the relevant operational resources (help desks, groups of individuals, communities of practice, networks of practitioners, etc.) that exist for NGOs and other local organisations.
The INSPIRE+ Consortium is made up of Development Initiatives, IECAH, ODI, FAIREPROD and Groupe URD. It provides the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) with support in developing its policies via research, training, workshops and the dissemination of findings.
