Learning support for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Coronavirus Appeal

Groupe URD is starting a two-year project with the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC). We will be providing MEAL consultancy services in connection with the DEC’s Coronavirus Appeal, which was launched in July 2020.

When major disasters hit countries without the capacity to respond, the DEC brings together 14 leading United Kingdom aid charities to raise funds quickly and efficiently, enabling their member charities to rapidly scale up their operations on the ground.

Groupe URD provides DEC member charities with learning support during their interventions. We are about to start a Real Time Review of 41 programmes across 7 countries that are severely affected by the pandemic, in addition to chronic poverty, violence, conflict and displacement: Yemen, Syria, Afghanistan, DRC, Somalia, South Sudan and Bangladesh.

This work is done remotely until the global health situation allows for field missions, in partnership with local consultants on site in each country. Independent consultant Laurent Saillard is working with the Groupe URD team on this project.
