Context
The regional project “Enfants et Jeunes sur les Routes Migratoires d’Afrique de l’Ouest et du Nord” (EJM) aims to strengthen national and regional systems for protection, education and life opportunities in a sustainable way, and to facilitate access to these services for children and young people on the move in 5 pilot countries (Morocco and Tunisia; Guinea, Mali and Niger).
This multi-year project takes a holistic approach to the issue of mobility and seeks to improve respect for the rights of young people on migration routes, by helping local (national and regional) players to identify solutions.
The EJM project, funded by the Swiss government, is currently in the final year of its pilot phase (April 2022-March 25). It is being implemented by a consortium of organisations including Helvetas, Terre des Hommes, GIZ, and key partners: Médecins du Monde Belgium, SSI-AO (Service Social International Afrique de l’Ouest), SSI (Service Social International), MMC (Mixed Migration Centre) and Enda/MAEJT (Mouvement Africain des Enfants et Jeunes Travailleurs).
The capitalisation exercise and the setting up of such a system internally will enable the subsequent phases of the project to be planned and possibly scaled up.
Groupe URD’s mission
In this context, Groupe URD’s mission aims to :
- To carry out the exercise of capitalising on the experience of the EJM project (pilot phase) using participative methods.
- To set up a system for capitalising on experience and to provide support to those involved in the project.
- Provide food for thought at both operational and strategic levels, which will prove useful for planning and scaling up the project.
