This Observatory was launched with funding from MEAE (Centre de crise et de Soutien et Direction Générale de la Mondialisation) and Agence française de Développement (AFD)

The COVID-19 Observatory draws on years of experience analysing humanitarian situations with health consequences, as well as many crises caused by epidemics: cholera (Chad, Haiti, Yemen), and Ebola (Gulf of Guinea, DRC). In contrast to the observatories that we have set up in the field in the past (Afghanistan, Chad and Haiti), and currently in Mali, the COVID-19 Observatory essentially functions remotely to begin with, taking advantage of the many contacts that we have in the field.

It explores the different components of the Coronavirus pandemic, conducting both sector-specific and cross-sector analysis. In the face of uncertainty and the unknown, agility and health crises, we aim to propose original approaches to help decision-making. We are monitoring the different information sites on the virus that have been created in recent weeks, as well as consulting our networks in the field.

The COVID-19 Observatory’s publications are produced by Groupe URD, with support from Dr. Jean-Luc Poncelet.

“Solidarity during a systemic crisis – what the pandemic has revealed”

The 14th Autumn School on Humanitarian Aid took place on 23-25 September 2020 in Plaisians, at Groupe URD’s headquarters.
