On 12 January 2010, at 4.53 pm, an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 on the Richter scale shook Haiti, followed by dozens of aftershocks. Hundreds of thousands of houses were destroyed, leaving 200 000 dead, 300 000 injured, and 1.5 million homeless. This special programme includes a number of reports on this terrible event that has had such a lasting impact on the people of Haiti.
