This meeting, which was chaired by UNICEF’s Head of Emergency Operations, Manuel Fontaine, and the Director of the Swiss Humanitarian Aid Department, Manuel Bessler, helped to achieve significant progress in bringing changes to this key humanitarian sector, due to the major repercussions in terms of public health, managing population displacement and combatting major epidemics.
The study, which was commissioned by the Global WASH Cluster (GWC) and supported by UNICEF and OXFAM, took stock of the constraints affecting the WASH sector in extreme crisis contexts and the major difficulties related to security, the scale of needs and funding constraints.
