Iterative evaluation of the Vil Nou Pi Bèl project in Haiti

In November, Groupe URD will be carrying out the first of three evaluations of the Vil Nou Pi Bèl project, focusing on local governance and disaster risk management. Having been postponed several times, and then suspended due to the earthquake that took place on 14 August, the evaluation will look at the role of community organisations in preparing for and responding to the earthquake.

The first iterative evaluation with feedback sessions (EIMS) will:

document how challenges and strategies have evolved with the context, particularly in relation to the recent earthquake, and identify lessons learned;
establish, in a participatory manner, areas for analysis and action during the last year of the project (until May 2022), with a view to sustainability.

The evaluation will focus on the project’s governance-related activities, such as the creation and reinforcement of local organisations, and on Disaster Risk Management.

The Vil Nou Pi Bèl project aims to reinforce the resilience of the city of Jérémie, a commune in the Haitian department of Grande-Anse, and that of its inhabitants, through the establishment of basic services available to all.

The carrying out of this field mission will depend on how the very unstable security and political context in the country evolves. If necessary, the implementation methods or the timetable may be adapted.
