Humanitarian actors need to improve the quality of their actions both for the beneficiaries of the programmes and for donors and funding agencies. Evaluation is one of the means by which organizations can learn and improve their practices, but it is a complex process which requires a
variety of competencies. This training course provides participants with the methodological knowledge that is needed to take part in an evaluation of the quality of a humanitarian programme.
This training course is aimed at professionals with experience in the international aid sector. It aims to introduce participants to the key concepts in “evaluation” and “quality”, the different stages of the evaluation process (preparation, methodology, report writing, etc.), initiatives to promote good evaluation practice, and promoting an evaluation culture at the institutional level.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify evaluation tools that are adapted to different contexts, assess the quality of an evaluation and organise or take part in a “quality evaluation” themselves.
During the course, Groupe URD will also share its expertise in evaluation criteria and reference frameworks used by international organisations, such as the DAC/OECD criteria, the Quality COMPAS method, and the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS).
