REPR at the 7th Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in bali
Having previously taken part in the conferences in Sendai and Cancun, with their declarations on disaster preparedness and in favour of action at the community level (Community-based Disaster Risk Management), this year RepR will be promoting the efforts that have been made in France and Europe to mobilise the sector on climatic and environmental issues: reducing the environmental impact of aid and preparing for the environmental and climatic crises that are increasingly threatening our planet, and particularly the most vulnerable populations.
At the same time, RepR’s members continue to focus on multi-risk approaches, due to the increasing number of earthquakes (Haiti, China, Japan, etc.) and technological disasters (such as the explosion in the Port of Beirut), and continue to take action on these different aspects of Disaster Risk Management.
The Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Network (RePR)
The Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Network (Réseau pour la réduction des risques de catastrophes et l’adaptation au changement climatique – RepR), which was created in 2012, is made up of CARE France, the French Red Cross, Solidarités International, Humanité et Inclusion (formerly Handicap International) and Groupe URD. Its principal objectives are:
- to develop and share good practices;
- to campaign together and adopt common advocacy messages to be promoted during strategic meetings nationally and internationally;
- to reinforce the network to help share technical expertise.
