Waste management and ecological sanitation in developing and crisis-affected territories: moving forward through innovation!
In 2018, this event brought together around a hundred people to discuss their experiences in a variety of contexts, such as Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Senegal, and Cameroon.
GEDAE 2018 was an opportunity to tackle the issues of solid waste and sanitation in general. The participants appreciated the format of the conference and expressed their desire to repeat the exercise regularly.
The 2019 edition aims to go into greater detail on subjects that are considered priorities, in particular how to manage electric and electronic waste, how to manage hazardous waste, and the issue of ecological sanitation in refugee and IDP camps. As in 2018, the format is to alternate practical workshops and experience sharing presentations. In parallel, an exhibition of low-tech/low cost technologies takes during the three days of the conference.
That event brings together specialists from different organisations (local authorities, development NGOs, humanitarian NGOs, foundations, donors, academia, etc.).
It takes place at INSA in Lyon.
