Crises can be caused by, and can contribute to, environmental degradation. On the other hand, a preserved environment makes it easier to resolve crises and increases people’s resilience. A humanitarian response itself can have a negative impact on the environment, which necessarily needs to be taken into account and minimised in keeping with the principle of ‘do no harm’.
This two-hour videoconference (5.30 pm to 7.30 pm) will include presentations by Samantha Brangeon, Groupe URD’s Environment Advisor, followed by questions from the online participants.
The conference will take place on the TEAMS platform. A link will be sent to the email address provided by participants give when they register.
Groupe URD will also be running an online training course on ‘The Environment and Humanitarian Action’, on 18-19 May 2021, in partnership with the UNEP/OCHA Joint Environment Unit.
