The 4th edition of the French National Humanitarian Conference, which will be held on 22 March 2018 in Paris, will be of particular importance as it will see the formal endorsement of France’s new Humanitarian Strategy. France will be committed to this new strategy for four years in a context where crises are growing in number and intensity, and also in light of the commitments made by the international community at the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul in May 2016 and in connection with the Grand Bargain.
Four main themes will be explored in separate round tables:
- International Humanitarian Law, challenges and perspectives
- Humanitarian funding: reform, innovation, accountability
- The humanitarian-development nexus: emergency relief and long-term strategy
- Local actors-international actors: towards a shared vision
This event will be opened by Jean-Yves Le Drian, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
