‘How the crisis has been managed, from a multi-disciplinary perspective’
This book brings together the different Briefing Notes produced by Groupe URD in 2020 on the COVID-19 pandemic and the global crisis that this created. Revised and expanded, these different texts are based on years of analysis of humanitarian situations with a health impact, as well as numerous crises caused by epidemics (cholera, Ebola, etc.).
The book is also in keeping with ideas that Groupe URD has been exploring since 2019 regarding the consequences of a possible systemic collapse. The different authors based their texts on documentary reviews and exchanges with contacts in the field, exploring both sector-based and cross-cutting aspects of the pandemic and the repercussions of the measures (or absence of measures) implemented by governments.
More than a year after the beginning of the pandemic, in the majority of countries, people are exhausted and young people feel that they have no future. In others, hope is returning, particularly thanks to the arrival of vaccinations, but often with the fear of a new more deadly or contagious variant of the virus. It is in this context that we decided to publish our work. These texts were written in the middle of the crisis, at a time of great uncertainty. They raise questions which, if they had been heard, could have made a difference.
