WORKING IN A CONSORTIUM

This course will give you the methodological knowledge needed to organise, implement, monitor and/or accompany an aid operation in a consortium.

Objectives

By the end of the course, the participants will:

  • Be familiar with the added value and potential challenges of working in a consortium;
  • Understand the specific characteristics of working in a consortium at the organisational level: relations between partners, implementation, resource management, monitoring and external cooperation;
  • Be able to contribute to the organisation, implementation, monitoring and accompaniment of a consortium.

Course content

  • Added value and challenges of working in a consortium for the beneficiaries, the authorities, operators and donors;
  • Organisation and coordination;
  • Collective implementation of activities;
  • Management and mutualisation of resources (HR, financial, etc.);
  • Collection, analysis and use of information;
  • Cooperation and synergy between the stakeholders.

The content of the course can evolve depending on the profiles and expectations of the participants: Issues at stake in implementing activities or in accompanying teams: Focus on coordination, organisation, implementation, management of resources or information management.

Target audience: This course is aimed at professionals from the international aid sector who run, or are involved in consortiums, such as: Consortium Coordinators; Project Managers; Operational Coordinators; Support Service Coordinators; Site Managers; people in charge of funding and partnerships, Monitoring Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Coordinators; etc.

Pre-requisites: Solid experience in the humanitarian or development sectors (at least two years); familiarity with project cycle management; fluent French (writing, reading, speaking).

Duration: 2,5 days (18 hours)
